Poll Result Enigma
(by Adam Figgers, Bugle Statistical Correspondent)

A recent local opinion poll conducted by the Brampton Bugle took researchers completely by surprise when it transpired that as many as 71.3% of those polled voted "yes", and only 28.6% voted "no". Sociologist Mandy Slapper (34), head of the research team based at the Brampton Grange Top Secret Government Research Establishment, who processed and analyzed the resultant statistical data told our reporter: "It was a very surprising outcome; not at all what we expected, and proves the necessity for surveys of this kind. Obviously we can only present a simplified view for the benefit of the layman, and great care should be taken not to misconstrue what is actually a very very complex subject indeed, but taking everything into consideration it would appear on the surface to be a positive result. It has been observed that similar polls elsewhere have reflected a comparable shift in public opinion, which naturally may, or may not, have far reaching consequences in the fullness of time. We'll just have to wait and see."
