A large multinational company based in Brampton, the British Sludge Corporation, is facing court action after claims that they are allegedly taking raw untreated sludge from a local river and selling it to the public at inflated prices. Health and safety experts say: "This is totally unacceptable, the possible repercussions from this act could have unforeseeable circumstances in future years, especially for children, senior citizens and the disabled." A company spokesman, public relations officer Herbert Pelp (36) stated: "Only the purest ingredients are used to make our finished product, the accusations are a scurrilous attempt by malicious environmentalists and B.S.C's competitors to spoil our good reputation and the exemplary safety record of a fine commodity." *****
